Industry and Community Engagement at Acadia University

Office of Industry and Community Engagement

Acadia’s Office of Industry & Community Engagement (ICE), builds collaborations between Acadia’s researchers and industry, government and community groups interested in research, commercialization and outreach activities.

We can help assess your needs and identify appropriate expertise on campus or within another research institution. As a member of Springboard Atlantic, ICE works and collaborates with other universities and colleges in Atlantic Canada to ensure a strong contribution to the development, sustainability and prosperity of our local and regional communities.

Acadia’s emphasis on fostering industry-related research collaborations helps ensure that the research undertaken at Acadia remains relevant to the rapidly changing needs of industry, while helping Acadia fulfill its service mission by generating financial, economic, academic and societal benefits for our local and regional community.

Industry partners engage with Acadia researchers to:

  • Gain access to world class skills and state-of-the-art facilities and equipment;
  • Help develop innovative new products or services;
  • Find solutions to problems that help companies increase productivity;
  • Access research funding programs;
  • Contract-out services (i.e. analytical services); and/or,
  • Access to students and future employees.

The ICE Office works directly with:

  • Acadia faculty and students
  • Industry and industry associations
  • Local and regional communities (individuals and groups)
  • All levels of government, economic development agencies, and NGOs
  • Regional, national, and international educational and research/commercialization organizations
